East Loddon P-12 College

East Loddon Values the 4 Rs: Respect, Responsibility, Resilience, Relationships

Junior School

WELCOME

As the coordinator for Prep to Grade 4, I am delighted to share with you information about our sub-school. Our dedicated staff provide a well-balanced, challenging and engaging school curriculum. We have a focus on building strong, positive relationships focusing on the four R's: Respect, Responsibility, Resilience, and Relationships.

At East Loddon, we believe that fostering Respectful Relationships is fundamental to creating a supportive environment. Our students learn the value of empathy, active listening, and understanding, enabling them to build positive connections with their peers and the broader community.

We have implemented a phonics-based program called Sounds-Write. This approach to literacy empowers our young learners with strong reading and language skills, setting them up for success in all areas of their education. Our research and evidence-based methods optimize language and reading development for every student. With a commitment to providing exceptional education for all students, our Intervention programs cater to individual needs, ensuring that every child receives the tailored support they require to excel in their learning journey.

Our comprehensive wellbeing support and programs, including Kids Hope and Respectful Relationships, provide a safe and nurturing space where students can explore their emotions, build resilience, and develop strong, positive relationships with their peers and teachers.

We also recognize the importance of hands-on experiences in education. Our students have the opportunity to immerse themselves in our exciting Agriculture lessons, opportunities for camps, excursions and sleepovers where they connect with nature, develop practical skills, and cultivate a deep appreciation for the world around them.

Our Prep to Grade 4 community is a place where students are inspired to inquire, explore, and innovate, paving the way for a lifelong love of learning.

2024 CLASSROOM STRUCTURES:

The class structures for 2024 have been finalised thanks to the P4 team, leadership and School Council. This was not a decision that was made lightly, and many factors came to play. We believe in what is best for the students, and have considered the options we have. Our class structures for 2024 will be as follows: Prep/One Three/Four One/Two Three/Four Each classroom will consist of approximately the same amount of students. Each individual Grade will still receive their daily portion of Literacy as a separate grade (eg: grade 1 will be together for instruction).
