East Loddon P-12 College

East Loddon Values the 4 Rs: Respect, Responsibility, Resilience, Relationships

International Experiences

This is a new page - more content coming soon.

Just because we are a school in rural Victoria doesn't mean we don't get to see the world. We have sent students to international countries and have hosted many exchange students from over seas as well. Countries visitied have included the United States, New Zealand, Germany and Turkey.

Our Adventures:

Several years ago, East Loddon P-12 College began a sister school arrangement with a Turkish school located in Canakkale, located just across the Dardanelles from the Gallipoli Peninsula. The college was keen for our students to have a real connection with the commemorations taking place for the 100th anniversary of the Gallipoli landing and gain a better perspective of the Turkish side of the story. Our wonderful rural college travelled to Turkey in 2015 and 2018 and have hosted our Turkish friends in 2014 and 2016. This exchange program is multi-faceted and has grown into an extremely positive educational opportunity, and something much bigger than first anticipated. We firmly believe that our fantastic ‘country kids’ gain so much from this program and it is vital that the college is able to continue strengthening this wonderful opportunity afforded to our students.

Turkey/South East Asia 2020

We were excited to have 8 students committed to travelling to Ho Chi Minh City (formerly known as Saigon) and visit places of wartime significance in Vietnam, including the Long Tan battlefield, before touring around Turkey and visiting the Gallipoli peninsula in 22020. Unfortunately world events meant our planned trip was unable to go ahead. After a nerve wracking few months leading up to it where students and staff worked tirelessy to fundraise and prepare, COVID restrictions meant they were left with no choice but to abandon the trip - a mere four weeks short of our departure date -  and remain at home.

Following the severe earthquake in Turkey at the start of 2023 the 'want to be' participants made the incredibly geneous decision to donate the money that they had raised for the trip to the Turkish earthquake Relief Fund to assist those suffering the other side of the world. In quite an emotional presentation, the Turkish Ambassador and an aide made the trip to East Loddon to accept the donation on behalf of their people. The fact that one of them was actually from one town that was devasted by the quake made the ocasion so much more emotional and personal.
